Project description • Defered Audit #2

This "defered audit" concerned a set of 32 large format b&w negatives found in the course of researching the gallery's archives. These negatives were found in a folder marked "unidentifiable negatives" - someone had decided that these negatives could no longer be identified. Permission was secured to make a set of 8 x 10 inch prints from these negatives. The prints were then installed in the gallery as Defered Audit #2.

A caption accompanied the grid of photographs that asked gallery visitors to supply information about these images if they were recognized in any way. Any information about the possible identity of these images that was offered to gallery attendants was then printed out as a caption and affixed to the gallery wall next to the images. Some images ended up with more than one caption as visitors sometimes ended up disagreeing about the content of the photographs.
