What are my @web.net (or @web.ca) email settings?

Username: the first part of your email address (omit @web.net or @web.ca)
Password: your password

Incoming server: mail.web.net
IMAP port: 993
POP3 port: 995
Connection security: SSL

Outgoing server: mail.web.net
SMTP port: 587 (or 1025)
Connection security: STARTTLS

Authentication is required for all IMAP, POP3 and SMTP connections.

Do I use mail.web.net if my email is @web.ca?

Yes.  Use mail.web.net for both incoming & outgoing server names.

How do I check my email via webmail?

Use our Webmail service at https://webmail.web.net

How do I add an auto-reply message?

Add an auto-responder or vacation message by logging into Webmail.

Once logged in:

  1. Click or tap the silhouette icon (upper-right corner of screen)
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Filters (in left navigation)
  4. Click or tap Add a Filter
  5. Enter a Name for your filter, e.g. "Vacation"
  6. Optionally add Conditions (leave Conditions empty to act on all incoming email)
  7. Under Actions select Vacation message
  8. Set Reply interval to 1 day
  9. Set Recipients to your email address, e.g. "support@web.net" or "support@web.net, support@web.ca"
  10. Set Subject, e.g. "I'm away from the office"
  11. Set Message
  12. Click or tap Done
  13. Click or tap Save under Filters

How do I change my password?

Change your @web.net or @web.ca password by logging into Webmail.

Once logged in:

  1. Click or tap the silhouette icon (upper-right corner of screen)
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Password (in left navigation)
  4. Enter Current password
  5. Enter New password
  6. Confirm new password
  7. Click or tap Set New Password to save.

If Set New Password button turns green then your password has successfully been changed.

How do I block an email address or manage spam filters?

Manage block lists and spam filters by logging into Webmail.

Once logged in:

  1. Click or tap the silhouette icon (upper-right corner of screen)
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Filters (in left navigation)
  4. Click or tap Add a Filter
  5. Give your filter a Name, e.g. "Block list"
  6. Click or tap Add a Condition
  7. Configure your condition by setting the appropriate fields
  8. You may add multiple conditions
  9. Create an action that will trigger when all conditions are met
  10. Available Actions are:
    • Move to (a different folder)
    • Forward to (an email address)
    • Reject (with a message)
    • Vacation message (auto-reply)
    • Discard (no acknowledgement; send to a black hole)
  11. Click or tap Done
  12. Click or tap Save

How do I setup Thunderbird, Outlook, or other?

Add a new account in your preferred mail program. This is usually done under Account Settings.

Below are the server settings for both incoming (IMAP/POP3) and outgoing (SMTP).

Bonus Tip! Marking Spam as Junk

You can mark messages as Junk in Webmail and you'll help our spam filters learn.

Configure a junk folder

  1. Click or tap the silhouette icon (upper-right corner of screen)
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Folders (in left navigation)
  4. If you do not see a Junk folder listed, create one by selecting Create Folder
  5. Select System Folders
  6. Next to Spam select your Junk folder
  7. Close the dialog (X in top-right corner)

Marking a message as junk

  1. Select the message individually or multiple messages with the checkbox
  2. Click or tap the Spam icon ()

Is this <insert email> a phishing email?

Yes, it likely is. Mark as junk or delete. We'll send you a more personalized message if you've exceeded quota or if we identify any problems or concerns with your account.

How do I setup 2-factor authentication (2fa)?

You can setup 2-factor authentication (2fa) by logging into Webmail. Ensure you have the Google Authenticator app (or other TOTP app) installed on your mobile device.

Once logged in:

  1. Click or tap the silhouette icon (upper-right corner of screen)
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Security (in left navigation)
  4. Select Configure 2-Step verification
  5. Select Activate
  6. Check Enable 2-Step verification and follow the on-screen instructions
  7. Copy the Backup codes somewhere safe
  8. Click or tap Done to save.
